1. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial Intelligence or AI, used to design clothing, accessories, and leather
goods is the latest amalgamation of fashion and technology. Artificial Intelligence is a computer science where smart machines undertake tasks that are normally done by humans. How cool is that?


As a fashion entrepreneur, it is important to know how AI can help you understand your target customer’s needs better and focus on predicting what customers will want to wear next, even before they themselves know. AI also replaces human beings in designing and producing clothing. 2. Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR)

Sephora, L’Oreal, Charlotte Tilbury, and Rimmel – AR apps like ‘ModiFace’ allow you to test out different lipsticks, shades, eye palettes, and other makeup products by accessing a person’s smartphone cameras, videos, and photos.

3. Virtual Fashion

With fashion taking a hit due to the Covid 19 pandemic, not everyone is ready to head to the stores and buy new clothing. Virtual fashion is untouchable, digital pieces of clothing, accessories, and leather clothes; which cannot be touched or physically worn.


The concept of Virtual Fashion was first developed by the Dutch startup The Fabricant, Dapper Labs and augmented reality artist Johanna Jaskowska in the form of a dress called Iridescence.


The idea behind this digital dress (which only exists on the Blockchain) is the dress is based on 2D patterns of whoever will wear it, using photos given to the designers after purchase. The easiest way to think of Virtual Fashion is as a personalized social media filter that only the owner can use.

4. 3D Scanning & Printing


Shopping online is always tricky when it comes to finding the perfect fit, but 3D scanning and clothes-fitting tech are about to change it all.


As brands increasingly begin to adapt to 3D scanning for virtual try-ons, this kind of technology will support greater personalisation and shape the future of e-commerce.

Technology will keep on developing. What is today's state-of-the-art will tomorrow be obsolete. And this process also applies to the fashion industry. What is ‘in-trend today is thrown away the following season.
